Grants
MLIF received a grant from CT DEEP for the treatment of Curley Leaf Pondweed in the lake with the hope of eradicating it forever.

MLIF received a grant from the Richardson Foundation to remove large items/debris from the lake in the area of the cliffs. One insured company that will be giving us a proposal to do the work is Lake Underwater Cleaning & Salvage. We will be reaching out to other insured companies to get competitive proposals. The project report is due to the Richardson Fund at the end of May 2023.

Lake Management
Pond and Lake Connection (PLC) has noted that the aquatic weed Coontail is now the dominant weed in the lake. We will ask PLC why there is an excess of Coontail. The water is currently very clear.

The Thrift Shop Grant will cover most of the cost of the Phragmites treatments. The balance will be from our donations. The second phragmites treatment will be done this Fall along the shoreline.

Mechanical Spillway & Dam
Before any work can begin on the spillway or the dam, photos of the area need to be taken when the leaves are off the trees and the brush is cleared. When this is done, the next step will be the GPS survey. At this point, all the brush has been cleared. We have engaged RKW Land Surveyor (RKW) to do the detailed topographical and GPS work.

Our Engineering firm, Lenard Engineering (LEI), has been sold to Haley Ward, Inc. (HW). Our contract with HW is the same as with LEI.
