COMMITTEE REPORTS
Fundraising
We are in transition to our new fundraising program as information is being put into the new system. Test runs have worked well.
Grants
The Anne S. Richardson grant request to clean the lake bottom of debris in the area near Richardson Park was submitted. It was a team effort to get the information and tailor the language for our grant request. We expect an answer in July.
LAKE MANAGEMENT
2021 Treatment Schedule
The first preliminary treatment for phragmites will be in April or May; the second treatment will be in September or October. The second treatment is expected to be most effective. A letter was sent to 13 lakefront owners with significant phragmites problems alerting them of the upcoming treatments. We have not heard back from any of them. We met with a Father from Christ the King Church; they are delighted to hear we are doing the phragmites treatments in their area.
MISCELLANEOUS
– A proposal was discussed by the Board to consider a mechanical spillway to manage water flow. The cost would be about $100,000. It could be funded with grants and individual donations. It was suggested we contact the Town to see if they could give some financial help and if they have could offer any information/suggestions about how best to proceed with the project. It was also suggested we contact our Board Consultant Tessa Jucaite, a civil engineer, for her ideas. We could also check with other lakes with new dams. We will discuss the idea in more detail at a future meeting.
– The terrible condition of the driveway at the State boat launch was brought up. We will check with the State to see if they have any plans to make repairs.
– It was reported that a small turquoise kayak went “missing” from an owner’s dock during the winter.
– The addling of goose eggs will start at the end of March. Please notify Dean if you see any nests.
