GRANTS

Grant requests to the Thrift Shop and the Anne Richardson Fund have been submitted.  We are still waiting for funds from the State for the DEEP grant that was awarded to us last year.  Those funds will pay for treatments to eradicate the invasive Curley Leaf Pond Weed.

LAKE MANAGEMENT
The contract with Pond and Lake Connection (PLC) for treating the lake has been signed after Board approval.  We expect the first treatment for the Curley Leaf Pond Weed to be done in April, with a follow-up treatment in May.  We want to treat the weeds while they are small, so there is less biomass in the lake when they die.  The Phragmites were treated twice last year and, hopefully, they are gone for good.

MECHANICAL SPILLWAY UPDATE
The engineering firm, Haley Ward (HW), is in the process of preparing several alternatives for the dam and spillway and will have cost opinions to us by the end of March.  At the very least, we will have to raise the height of the dam by 3 inches to meet the 100-year flood requirements.  HW is recommending raising the dam another 6 inches (total of 9 inches) to meet the 500-year flood requirements.  Either plan would affect the property of the Williams as well as that of Jessica Wilmont.  There may be several options for the spillway.

It is going to take a year or two before all decisions are made, permits obtained, contractors
chosen and work commenced.  The area has been cleared of trees and shrubs.  It is now bare dirt. The Williams family plan to plant grass and flowers in the area to stabilize it for the short term.

ANNUAL MEETING
The Annual Meeting will be on Thursday June 1, 2023, place/time to be determined. We will have a representative from the lake management company (PLC) to give a report on the state of the lake.
