COMMITTEE REPORTS

Fundraising
Several Board members have been reviewing a new software platform for fundraising that would include a database of watershed property owners. The program, called Little Green Light, has many features and can pull a variety of reports as needed. The Board approved the purchase of the new software.

Grants
The Grants Team has met numerous times to plan and prepare grant submissions for 2022.

A Thrift Shop Grant application was submitted in mid-January.

The DEEP Aquatic Invasive Species state grant was submitted in late January for the control of Curly-Leaf Pondweed (CLP) using a systemic herbicidal product that gets into the roots. It would be applied in mid-March 2022, a month earlier than our previous mid-April application. This product is more expensive and much more effective than the contact herbicide we now use. The grant requires the grantee to fund at least 25% of the total amount requested. It is possible given the timing of the state grant approvals that this project will actually begin in mid-March 2023.

Anne S. Richardson Grant – A summary of our Richardson Grant history for the past 11 years was reviewed by the Board. This year’s grant application must be submitted by 2/28.

LAKE MANAGEMENT
The Phragmites treatment plan that was approved by the Board last fall will be begin in April. The second treatment will be done this fall. Pond and Lake already has DEEP approval to use the herbicide.

MISCELLANEOUS
With regards to the topic of the Town not complying with a request for info from the Save the Sound organization, it was noted that no part of Lake Mamanasco empties into the Long Island Sound watershed.

Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 7:30 via conference call or Zoom.
