MLIF Board Highlights
November 6, 2025
Fundraising
Fundraising donations are on track to meet out budgeted goal. The final fundraising mailing will be going out shortly. It will be sent only to those who donated last year but have not yet donated this year.
Grants
New funding sources were discussed. Targets for funding were for an updated lake survey, printing of educational materials for distribution to watershed residents and, possibly, one hiring a consultant to layout a ten-year lake restoration project. Final decisions on the projects will be made in January.
Lake Management
We are awaiting the 2025 recap from Pond and Lake Connection. We will discuss the management plan for next year in January.
Dam Improvement Project
The project is on time and is 90% complete. It is expected to be completed by November 24.
The construction company is waiting for survey work and testing. Seeding and placing erosion mats are planned for November 17-18. All the sandbags will be removed. The final survey is due November 19-20, and it will be given to our Engineering firm. The State inspectors will do a walk-through for final approval November 19-20. Native plants may have to wait until Spring. The boulders will be pushed away. Finances have gone as planned.
New Business
It was noted that there are plants growing in the sand at the Beach Club which are invasive sandburs (aka sticky burrs). The seed pods grab hold of fabric and skin and are tough to remove. Action should be taken to remedy the situation before they spread into the lake.
New Meeting Space
The CVS Community Room will no longer be available to outside groups so we are looking for a new free space. Possibly we would be able to schedule a meeting room at the Town Hall Annex (between the Playhouse and Yanity Gym). MLIF has met there in the past and the rooms are more than suitable for our needs.
