FUNDRAISING
We had an issue with our fundraising mailing as our letters were being returned. We will follow up with the Post Office.
GRANTS
We expect to hear shortly regarding our application for the Richardson Grant.
LAKE MANAGEMENT
The algaecide and herbicide treatments by Pond and Lake Connection are on track. This year we have contracted for 5-6 herbicide treatments over the summer. Algae treatments will be done as needed.
DAM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The latest plans for the dam project have been received from Haley-Ward. They must be given to the Inland Wetlands Board by July 18 for discussion at their July 25 meeting. The Inland Wetlands Board meets by Zoom, and they do not approve/disapprove the project. However, they do ask questions and make comments.
The engineers wanted to drop the lake level by 3 feet during construction. We pushed back, saying that was too much. They will now use a coffer dam so there will be less of a decrease needed in the water level. The dam will be lowered for 4-6 weeks.
NEW BUSINESS
– Phragmites is growing into the pathway at the State boat ramp. We discussed informing the State.
– A lakeside property owner asked about the phragmites in the lake and lakeside near their property. They would like help to treat this area with the herbicide P&L used last year.
– A Board member is meeting with representatives of Pierrepont and Fox Hill lakes.
The next Board Mtg is Sept. 5, 2024, 7:30 p.m. at the CVS Community Room.
