COMMITTEE REPORTS
Fundraising:
All 2022 donation amounts will be entered into our fundraising program so that letters can be sent to the donors for tax purposes..
Grants
Our CT DEEP grant application was approved for the treatment to, hopefully, permanently eradicate Curley Leaf Pond Weed from the lake. We reactivated our registration with the Secretary-of-State’s office in order to complete this process.
We will apply for a Thrift Shop grant to conduct the Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses needed to move forward with the spillway project.
MLIF received a grant from the Richardson Foundation to get large items/debris out of the lake in the area of the cliffs. We are gathering additional vendor quotes to enable the Board to vote on a company to do the work outlined in the grant application.
MECHANICAL SPILLWAY
– Our engineering firm for the spillway project, Lenard Engineering (LEI), has been sold to Haley Ward, Inc. (HWI). Our contract with HWI is the same as with LEI.
– The dam inspection has been completed.
– The topological and GPS survey has been completed by RKW Land Surveyor of New Canaan.
– The Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses will be done by HWI (formerly LEI).
– The Alternatives Assessment may be completed in the next few weeks. The options will affect the project cost.
– Geotechnical evaluation – We are waiting to see if this is needed.
– There have been indications that the engineers may want to raise the dam 12-18 inches.
