COMMITTEE REPORTS
Fundraising:
The fall fundraising mailing will be going out shortly.
Grants
Our application has been approved by CT DEEP for the permanent treatment of Curley Leaf Pond Weed in the lake with the hope of eradicating it forever.
MLIF received a grant from the Richardson Foundation to remove large items/debris from the lake in the area of the cliffs. One insured company that will be giving us a proposal is Lake Underwater Cleaning and Salvage. We have located another company to also scope out the work and give us a quote.
LAKE MANAGEMENT
Pond and Lake Connection (PLC) has completed all 2022 algae treatments. The second Phragmites treatment went well. Two residents chose to be added to the treatment at a cost of $225 per property.
PLC will complete our year-end report by the end of November.
Mechanical Spillway Update
The engineering firm for the spillway project, Lenard Engineering (LEI), has been sold to Haley Ward, Inc. (HW). Our contract with HW is the same as with LEI.
RKW Land Surveyor of New Canaan is doing the detailed topographical and GPS survey and will send to it to HW.
New Business
It was suggested that we put the three suggested donation levels on the fundraising letter.
It was suggested that we write a letter commending the community service of Lucas Williams for his work removing trash and potentially hazardous items from the lake.
