COMMITTEE REPORTS
Fundraising
The next fundraising letter, together with a newsletter, will be mailed soon.
Grants
We did not receive a Richardson grant this year. It was noted that we have not received a grant from the Richardson Fund for the last 4 years. The grant applications are due in January or February. We will discuss the subject further at our next Board meeting.
LAKE MANAGEMENT
Treatments – Pond & Lake Connection (PLC) thinks the lake is in good shape. They treated around the docks with herbicide. We have eight treatments a year, and we finished all eight. The Board voted last month to do one more treatment if needed. We will keep an eye on the rain and temp to determine if we need an additional treatment. Details of the phragmites status and proposal by PLC will be circulated at our October meeting, and we will vote on the proposal then.
Sign at Boat Ramp – The contributions sign we posted at the boat ramp was removed. We will work to get help to have the sign reposted. It may be that a permit is required.
Beach Club Tree Removal – We have three estimates for tree removal from:
Angel Redovan to remove three trees
Edgar Nugra to remove two trees
Jose Robles to remove three trees
It was confirmed that there are three trees for removal. We will reassess one of the bids and have an update at the next meeting.
Zebra Mussels – The concrete blocks were checked and there was no evidence so far of zebra mussels. The concrete blocks were dropped near one of the northside docks, near the spillway, and near rock island.
MISCELLANEOUS
Due to heavy rains, there are two very large floating islands. One is parked in front of the boat ramp, the other is snagged on grass island. We will keep an eye on them and will send a picture to Nick at PLC for his advice.
